Container – Lukas moodysson

can’t say a word …

perfect scripts, with nice visual and editing.

and it lasts for 74mins with a single spoken stream-of-consciousness monologue.

Container is a Swedish 2006 film by Lukas Moodysson. It was first shown at a film festival in Berlin.
The movie is in black and white and was described by Moodysson as “a silent movie with sound”; an appropriate description as the only sound of the film is a spoken stream-of-consciousness monologue which is seemingly loosely related to the visuals.”

把胡思亂想用條理連線起來會讓人興奮

當你發現你對著同一個project不斷犯著不同又愚蠢的錯,
你不得不承認,你真的不喜歡它,也沒有興趣,
所以不應再捱下去。

當你發現在工作中發現有點tricky 又有趣的東西,
思想有點自由,
找到一點胡思亂想的空間,
再把它用條理連線起來,
很好玩,很興奮。

感受

我喜歡看/聽深入的訪問,
更喜歡代入別人來猜想他/她的思想。

了解人,是一件很有趣的事,
好像一個「上身」的旅程。
附身的代入和了解,
並沒任何機心,
只想去感受。

可能人生其中一種意義就是去感受自己、再感受別人、再感受世界,再感受自己。
(那有什麼用?)
人生出來就是沒什麼用啦,幹嗎再做那麼多「有用」的事?

最近喜歡聽許鞍華在[RTHK的訪問] ,加上【生活】的indepth interview,她在我面前突然變得很立體。

光明頂分析【姨媽的後現代生活】的那集也很好聽啊。

一邊聽節目,一邊獨自工作,也算不錯~

p.s.: wah wah wah … a rare interview!! ha .. but it’s a short..

否定定義

我發覺我喜歡把自己放在一個難以定義的位置,
那種liquid的狀態才使我興奮和實在。

要是你給我一個定義,
我就是喜歡否定它,
再賦予亦一種/多重意義,
這是一種displacement的狀態。

假如只看肉眼所見的東西是很平庸無趣,
極其量亦可說它「靚、好靚、型」。

但若然做一件事的時候是可以不斷地無聲無色地創造新的意義或可能性,
這種過程的巧妙的隱美才最好看。

當然,
首先你要學會抽身來欣賞你的生活,
在生命、在社會、在世界、在將來、在過去,
這可能是自說自話,
但若學懂,那真的很美。

An Interview with Anthony Dunne

Q: Your works express the belief that design shouldn’t just be used to turn technology into something eye-pleasing, sexy and easy to use. What other role should design play then?

A: It could make us think and encourage us to ask more from industry! There is no need to rush into the future frantically styling up new technology and getting it to market as fast as we can. We need to reflect a bit more and ask some questions, I know this is completely at odds with the industrial system we have today, but I think as a profession we could take on more social responsibility and use some of our time, resources and know-how to explore alternative ideas about everyday life to those put forward by industry.

I think there is a real need for design to address the public as well as industry, and to explore new ways of getting discussions going about what people really want and how industry can help us achieve it, rather than the other way around.

Q: Why do you think that biotechnology, synthetic biology or nanotechnology, like electronics, are areas in which design should play a role?

A: All of these technologies, separately, and in combination, are going to have a huge impact on our lives in the near future. I think it’s important that designers, start thinking about how to get involved. It’s not just about new skills or a new medium, but very different ways of thinking. What does it mean to design living or semi-living materials and products? It’s important too that design, with its powerful visualisation skills, makes abstract concepts tangible and discussable. It can help us debate different futures before they happen. Otherwise the ‘future’ is just going to happen to us and the products and services we get will be driven by economic and technological factors rather than human needs, let alone desires.

I think it would be a great shame if designers stayed on the margins while these technologies begin to shape the world around us. The time it takes for science to turn into technology and then products is speeding up. There is no comparison with the trajectory electronics took so we need to start getting involved now and exploring what impact these new technologies will have on our lives.

Q: You’re now Head of the department of Design Interactions at the Royal College of Art in London. A year ago, the department was still called Interaction Design. What motivated such change?

A: The name interaction design is beginning to mean something quite specialised and focussed on designing interfaces for electronic and digital products and systems. This is probably a very good thing if you are trying to establish a discipline or a group within a company, but it’s not so good if you are interested in pushing boundaries and exploring new ways designers can make technology relevant and meaningful to everyday life. Designing better interfaces is one way of doing this but not the only way.

I think originally, the interesting thing about interaction design was the emphasis on designing interactions rather than things. We changed the name of the department around to emphasise this. But by changing the name we also hoped to decouple interaction design as a design approach, from purely digital and electronic technologies, and to allow it to continue to mutate and evolve in relation to design challenges created by a whole range of other technologies like bio- and nanotech as well as new social and cultural developments.
